The Accident Investigation Unit is comprised of officers who receive extensive training in all aspects of accident investigation and accident reconstruction. Officers from this unit investigate all fatal or potentially fatal accidents within the Town of Darien. The officers assigned to this unit are on call 24 hours a day seven days a week to respond to all major injury and fatal traffic accidents. These officers have been through years of specialized schooling and on the job training to investigate, analyze, and complete a highly detailed report explaining the circumstances of the accident. These types of accidents usually involve lengthy litigation in criminal and civil courts and these officers’ reports and findings are critical in these proceedings.
