On Tuesday May 10th the Darien Police Department will help sponsor the “Students Against Destructive Decisions” (S.A.D.D.) Safety Fair. The event will be taking place from 9:30am to 2:00pm at Darien High School.
The Darien Police Department Youth Division, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Connecticut State Police, the S.A.D.D. Team, Safe Rides, and many others will be on hand to help raise awareness about driving safety.
Informational packets will be provided along with food and drinks. Local businesses have provided resources, and driving simulators will be on hand so students can experience for themselves what it feels like to be in a roll over car accident or drive while drunk.
Janice Marzano, the program director of The Darien Teen Center hopes that “Educating and allowing the students to experience firsthand the results of driving unsafely will be more impactful than just telling teens what to do.”
The purpose of this campaign is not only to achieve safer teen driving habits on a daily basis but targets the upcoming Prom Night and summer season as well. Handouts, decals, and t-shirts will be available.
Please join us and help spread the word. Thank you.
