At approximately 2345 hours () on 12-11-2009, members of the Darien, CT Police Department responded to a residence on Bailey Ave. on the report of a “home invasion” type incident. An 18 year-old female resident called the police department after the incident had ended and the subjects involved had fled.
The female resident reported that she had heard a noise at the upstairs apartment door. Thinking it may have been a family member who resides downstairs in the dwelling, she opened the door, at which time three (3) male subjects rushed into the house. One of the males accosted the female and reportedly held his hand over the female’s mouth.
The father of the 18 year-old female, age 47, who heard the commotion from inside of his bedroom, came out and an altercation ensued between the father and two (2) of the male subjects. During the altercation, the father and one of the male subjects reportedly fell down the stairs in the home while they were fighting. The altercation then reportedly continued outside with the father and two of the male subjects fighting on the front lawn of the residence.
During this incident, the 47 year-old resident was struck in the head by one of the subjects with a makeshift type club, causing a head injury which required medical treatment. A club like item believed to have caused the injury was recovered by police at the scene.
All three subjects fled on foot and were last seen running westbound on Bailey Ave. towards West Ave. The location of this incident is in close proximity to the Darien train station.
At the time of this release, it does not appear that anything was taken from the residence.
·All three subjects were described as approximately six feet tall.
·One subject was reportedly wearing a red and white “multi-colored” jacket.
·One subject was reportedly wearing a gray, hooded jacket with fur on the hood.
·One of the subjects was reported as being a “dark skinned” male, possibly black. Investigation continues into the race of the other two subjects who were first reported as white. The race of the three subjects, however, is not definitive as of the date and time of this release.
The Darien Police Department requested the assistance of an on-duty K9 from the Westport Police Department. The K9 did track the apparent flight path of the subjects out to West Ave. where the scent was lost. No vehicle(s) were observed in the area.
At the time of this release, there are no identified suspects or known motive for this incident. The investigation is continuing and the Darien Police Department requests that anyone with information call the Darien Police Department at (203) 662-5300.
