Darien Police Department Joins the National Crime Map
Citizens now have free access to official, timely crime data through CrimeReports.com

The Darien Police Department is now affording citizens the ability to view selected police activity on line through a new partnership with CrimeReports, creators of the National Crime Map, at www.CrimeReports.com. This latest initiative, coordinated by Lt. Ray Osborne and Off. T.J. Moore, represents another effort by the Department to share information with the community.

“Providing reliable, timely information to our citizens is one of our top priorities,” says Chief Duane Lovello. “And partnering with CrimeReports gives us the ability to keep the public informed on a regular basis as to what is going on in the community.” He added that the map will be updated every 24 hours and that citizens can sign up for free crime email alerts. “Information is power,” Chief Lovello added. “And we hope that giving the community this information will help them prevent crime in their neighborhoods.”

“The Darien Police Department is a leader in law enforcement innovation,” says Greg Whisenant, founder and CEO of CrimeReports. “They are demonstrating their commitment to the community, to proactive policing, and fiscal responsibility.” According to Chief Lovello, the service offered by CrimeReports can be done far more economically than having it done internally.

Darien is joining a list of nearly 600 other law enforcement agencies of all sizes across North America who are sharing their crime information with the public through the map, like Baltimore, Boston, San Jose, San Francisco, Portland, Washington D.C., Los Angeles County, and more.

You can access your local activity map and sign up for daily, weekly, or monthly email crime alerts by visiting the Darien Police Department website, www.darienpolice.org and clicking on the CrimeReports icon or at www.CrimeReports.com
