For the past several months, Officers and Detectives have been investigating reports that a local male was providing illicit substances to minors in and around Darien. Evidence was provided to the Darien Police that the individual was taking orders for alcohol via text message and phone call, procuring it at local establishments, and delivering it to teens from Darien at a substantial markup over cost. The male was identified as Mark Yarish, DOB: 9/15/1965, of 20 Cherry Street.

Surveillance and investigation over the past two months confirmed accusations made by complainants that Yarish was heavily involved in transactions with local youth. Based on the investigation, an arrest warrant for Yarish was applied for and granted.

On Friday, July 21, 2017, Patrol Officers and Detectives took Yarish into custody on the strength of the warrant at his home at 20 Cherry Street.

Mark Yarish was charged with:

CGS 30-86: Providing Alcohol to Minors (felony)

CGS 53-21: Risk of Injury of a Minor (felony)

Yarish made his court set bond of $40,000 on Sunday, July 23rd at 1347hrs. He was ordered not to have contact with any minors until his court date of July 31st in Stamford.

As the investigation into Yarish is ongoing, no further information will be released at this time.
